Global Insight: IEIEA Releases Special English Report on the State of Iran’s Electrical Industry (1403)
Tehran, March 2025 – To foster international collaboration and provide transparent data to global stakeholders, the Secretariat of the IEIEA has published a comprehensive English analysis of the Iranian fiscal year 1403 (2024-2025).
A Year of Paradigm Shifts The report characterizes 1403 as a year defined by "extreme resilience". The national grid successfully navigated a complex "dual-crisis scenario": a record-breaking summer "Heat Dome" that pushed demand past 79,000 MW, and a severe winter "Gas Cliff" that tested fuel supply chains.
Key Highlights of the Report:
-
Generation Efficiency: Despite external pressures, the industry successfully upgraded Open Cycle plants to Combined Cycle, raising average efficiency from ~32% to over 48%.
-
Maintenance Mastery: A massive overhaul program covering 110,000 MW was executed, with domestic companies reversing-engineering critical hot-gas path components to maintain 98% plant availability.
-
Market Reform: The report details the success of the "Green Board" on the Iran Energy Exchange (IRENEX), where industrial demand for renewable energy drove trading volumes to record highs, establishing a real price discovery mechanism.
Outlook for 1404: The Year of Efficiency Looking ahead, the report outlines the IEIEA's strategic roadmap for the new year, designated as "The Year of Efficiency". The focus will shift towards:
-
Grid Modernization to reduce technical losses.
-
Renewable Expansion, specifically targeting wind energy in eastern corridors.
-
Cultural Shift from energy subsidies to energy productivity.

Global Minds Converge in Tehran: IEIPE Successfully Concludes the "2025 International Power Industry Productivity & Innovation Challenge"
Tehran, August 2025 – The Iranian Productivity Association for Power Industry (IEIPE) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its flagship event, The 2025 International Power Industry Productivity & Innovation Challenge. Held from August 20th to 22nd, the finals brought together researchers, industry leaders, and innovators to address the vital balance between efficiency and effectiveness in the global power sector.
Bridging the Gap The central theme of this year's challenge, "Bridging the Gap: From Production Capacity to Operational Excellence," was inspired by IEIPE's mission to utilize scientific knowledge to close the historical divide between production ranking and actual productivity. The event aimed to move beyond mere capacity expansion and focus on how to operate existing assets more intelligently and efficiently.
Global Participation and Specialized Tracks The competition witnessed an impressive turnout, receiving over 150 global submissions by the June deadline. Participants competed across four specialized tracks designed by IEIPE committees:
-
Digital Transformation & Smart Grid Optimization (Technology Committee)
-
Renewable Integration & Energy Efficiency Solutions (Energy Committee)
-
Capital & Asset Management Strategies (Capital Productivity Committee)
-
Innovative Work Methods & Labor Productivity (Labor & Methods Committee).
Celebrating Excellence During the awards ceremony, the jury panel honored projects that demonstrated exceptional merit and practical impact.
A notable highlight was the First Place award in the "Digital Transformation & Smart Grid Optimization" track, presented to Dr. Arash Rad from the Tehran Polytechnic University - Smart Grid Lab. His innovative project, titled "AI-Driven Load Balancing for Enhanced Grid Resilience," was recognized for its cutting-edge approach to grid stability using artificial intelligence.
The certificates were signed by Dr. M. H. Imani, IEIPE President, and Eng. K. Tehrani, Competition Committee Chair, validating the high academic and industrial standards of the event.
Lasting Impact The outcomes of this challenge extend beyond the ceremony. The top selected papers and innovations are set to be published in the "Journal of Quality and Productivity in the Power Industry," contributing to the global body of knowledge.
The IEIPE extends its gratitude to all participants, judges, and partners who made this international event a landmark success in the journey toward a more productive power industry.
